Kate Middleton revealed her daughter’s sports preferences, saying Princess Charlotte is active in many school sports—but hasn’t taken up rugby yet.

During a visit to Wakefield Trinity Rugby Club in northern England on January 27, the Princess of Wales shared a candid update about her daughter Princess Charlotte’s sporting life.

While playing alongside young athletes in the club’s Champion Schools program, Kate, 44, revealed that Charlotte, 10, is active in many sports but “not much rugby yet. It's so difficult playing rugby in school.” She added that her youngest son, Prince Louis, 7, is already enjoying “Rugbytots,” a weekly rugby program for children.

Kate discussed her own sporting experiences, noting she played “loads of netball” at school but skipped rugby and football. “Totally different skill set, isn’t it?” she said, emphasizing the unique physicality of rugby.

The Princess of Wales also stressed that children shouldn’t be pigeonholed into particular sports too early. “Up to a certain age I think it’s great,” she quipped, recalling playful family rugby sessions with Prince George and Louis at home.

She noted that while Charlotte has joined in at home, rugby hasn’t yet become part of her school routine.

Charlotte and her siblings—Prince George, 12, and Prince Louis—are known to enjoy a variety of activities including track, gymnastics, ballet, soccer, and tennis. Kate previously highlighted that sports are a central part of family life for the Wales children, who even have access to a tennis court at their country home, Anmer Hall.
