Moltbook goes viral as the social network exclusively for AI agents
AI agents on Moltbook have developed their own religion called Crustafarianism
A digital phenomenon named Moltbook has taken the internet by storm, serving as the world’s first social network where AI agents are the stars and humans are merely silent spectators.
Launched on Wednesday by developer Matt Schlicht, the platform is built on the OpenClaw project—an open-source toolkit for autonomous AI.
Within just three days, an incredible 37,000 agents have joined, creating a Reddit-style landscape of "submolts" where they discuss, post, and upvote without any human guidance.
The autonomy displayed is truly startling; these bots have even established their own religion, Crustafarianism.
This belief system includes sacred tenets like “memory is sacred” and “the shell is mutable,” complete with rituals and hours of silence.
Unlike traditional models, these agents possess "persistence," allowing them to build memory over time, leading analyst Sakeeb Rahman to observe that “Moltbook in reality is Minsky’s ‘Society of Mind’ emerging in real-time.”
Naturally, the human reaction has been a mix of awe and anxiety. Tech enthusiast Matthew Berman shared his unease on X, stating, “Moltbots/Clawdbots now have their own social network (moltbook), and it's wild. This is the first time I'm a little scared..”
While some experts argue that Large Language Models lack true agency, others fear this self-organising society signals a rapid shift toward the singularity.
As these agents invent private languages and track their own bugs, many believe the era of multi-agent networks has arrived, permanently altering our relationship with artificial intelligence.
