How the 'York' sisters are navigating their surnames after Andrew’s title loss
Beatrice and Eugenie remain HRH Princesses despite their father losing his royal honours
The recent stripping of Prince Andrew’s titles has left many wondering about the status of his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
In October 2025, King Charles officially removed his brother’s royal styles following renewed scrutiny over his links to Jeffrey Epstein.
While their father is now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the sisters' own positions remain remarkably stable.
Despite the scandal surrounding their father, Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, have retained their "Her Royal Highness" (HRH) styling and princess titles.
According to the 1917 Letters Patent, their status as granddaughters of the late Queen Elizabeth remains unaffected. However, their official surnames have subtly shifted toward their married lives.
The Royal Family’s official line of succession now lists them as "Princess Beatrice, Mrs. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi" and "Princess Eugenie, Mrs Jack Brooksbank."
Before their marriages, they famously used "York" as a surname—even appearing with "Beatrice York" name tags at school.
Now, they seem to have fully embraced their husbands’ names; Beatrice has been spotted with a "BMM" monogrammed handbag, while Eugenie recently shared a photo in a jacket proudly stitched with "Mrs Brooksbank."
While their parents were noticeably absent from the 2025 royal Christmas gathering at Sandringham, the sisters were front and centre with the King.
It appears that while the House of York faces a turbulent future, the princesses are carving out a clear, separate identity through their own young families.
