Bruce Campbell has informed the public about his diagnosis with a "non-curable" type of cancer, as revealed on Monday (March 2).

The 67-year-old actor did not specify the cancer type, but he assured that it is "manageable."

He began his announcement, featured as a text overlay on a photo on his Instagram and X profiles, with, “Hello everyone, nowadays, when dealing with a health issue, it’s sometimes called an ‘opportunity,’ so let’s go with that."

“I’m experiencing one of those. It’s also known as a type of cancer that is ‘manageable’ but not ‘curable.’ I’m sorry if this comes as a surprise – I was shocked too," he wrote.

The Evil Dead star explained his decision not to disclose further details, emphasizing that the announcement was for professional reasons, as "a few priorities will change."

He mentioned that events, conventions, and "work in general" will take "a pause for treatment."

"I aim to get as well as possible over the summer so I can promote my new film, Ernie & Emma this autumn," he mentioned. “I’ll need to opt out of several conventions this summer. I deeply regret it. Treating my health and professional commitments don’t always align perfectly.”

He said he chose not to go public for the sake of "sympathy or advice — just to pre-empt any misinformation that might spread (and it will).”

He concluded by assuring fans, whom he considers the best worldwide, that he's "a resilient old guy with strong support" and expects "to stick around for quite a while."

Campbell is famously known for his performance in Sam Raimi’s 1981 horror cult hit, The Evil Dead.

He reprised his role as Ash Williams in the film series. He provided voice work in the franchise's latest movie, Evil Dead Rise (2023).

Additionally, he is an executive producer for the sixth installment, Evil Dead Burn, scheduled for release on July 24, 2026.
