Emergent CEO explains feeding interview transcripts into ChatGPT
Emergent CEO Mukund Jha reveals that he leverages ChatGPT for a more objective hiring process
Emergent’s CEO Mukund Jha notes that he uses ChatGPT to inject more impartiality into one of the most subjective tasks: hiring new staff.
The head of the up-and-coming vibe-coding startup informed Business Insider that by analysing interview transcripts through ChatGPT, he can better evaluate applicants and confirm his assessments.
"I generally copy all my interview transcripts into ChatGPT and ask it to evaluate the interviewee’s performance," Jha commented in last month's discussion.
Jha mentioned intending to expand this technique widely, ensuring AI inclusion in each interview session.
"We aim to process it through a prompt, acquiring an unbiased evaluation on factors we're aiming to gauge," he elaborated.
Jha highlighted that the company has exceeded 100 staff members and is targeting the recruitment of 30 engineers by March.
The vibe coding startup quickly expanded, and Jha compared the industry's current state to the “bitcoin $1” phase.
In February, Emergent reported reaching $100 million in annual recurring revenue only eight months post-launch. ARR denotes the revenue a company forecasts from periodic payments like subscriptions.
According to a January report by Business Insider, Emergent secured a $70 million Series B investment round, bringing its total funding to an estimated $100 million.
Significant investors include Khosla Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed, Prosus, Together, Y Combinator, and Google's AI Futures Fund.
Utilising AI in recruitment is becoming prevalent as organizations aspire to make their hiring processes more efficient and informed.
Becky Frankiewicz, leading Manpower Group, stated at January’s World Economic Forum that AI expedites resume processing. Additionally, AI can be trained to eliminate bias, she noted.
Nathalie Scardino, Salesforce's president, expressed during the WEF panel that the company has explored "ways AI could support our recruiters' capabilities."
She stressed the necessity of human recruiters in evaluating a candidate’s capacity to learn, which she deemed essential alongside AI advancements.
