Cast of 'Ready or Not 2' evacuated after Paris hotel fire
Sarah Michelle Gellar and co-stars safe following kitchen fire at the Bristol Hotel
The promotional tour for the horror-comedy sequel "Ready or Not 2: Here I Come" took a dramatic turn on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, when a fire broke out at the prestigious Bristol Hotel in Paris.
Lead actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, along with co-stars Elijah Wood and Kathryn Newton, were among approximately 400 guests forced to evacuate the building during a scheduled press junket.
The blaze reportedly originated in the hotel’s kitchen around 11:30 a.m. local time, prompting a swift response from the Paris Fire Brigade, which deployed nearly 100 firefighters to the scene.
A representative for the Bristol Hotel confirmed that the fire was successfully contained and extinguished, and that all guests were accounted for and safe.
While three people were reportedly treated for minor injuries, the cast remained unharmed. Following a brief period of disruption, most areas of the hotel were reopened to the public.
Kathryn Newton, 29, appeared to take the incident in her stride, sharing a glamorous video on Instagram shortly after the evacuation with the caption: "Press day 1,075,790 of #ReadyOrNot2 in PARIS!!!!"
The incident comes at a bittersweet time for Gellar, 48, who is currently mourning the recent death of her "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" co-star Nicolas Brendon.
Despite the scare in Paris, the promotional tour for "Ready or Not 2" is expected to continue as planned. The film, which sees Samara Weaving return as the resilient Grace, is a direct sequel to the 2019 cult hit and features Gellar as a member of a rival family hunting for a powerful throne.
"Ready or Not 2: Here I Come" is scheduled for theatrical release in the United Kingdom and Europe on 8 April 2026, following its North American debut on 20 March.
