White House sparks online speculation by deleting cryptic video

On Wednesday night, two intriguing videos on the White House's official X and Instagram platforms caused a stir online.

The aim of these brief, vertically filmed clips was unclear, and one of the videos was eventually taken down.

The first clip, shared around 9:15pm EST, seemed to be recorded on a smartphone, focusing on someone’s feet.

In the four-second video, a woman’s voice is heard asking, “It’s launching soon, right?”

Text on the screen reads "sound on." This clip was removed from the White House's X and Instagram accounts approximately 90 minutes after being uploaded.

The second brief video, posted at 10pm EST, depicted a black screen with static, accompanied by a notification sound.

An American flag briefly appeared, and the post included smartphone and sound emojis.

The posts lacked context, amassing millions of views, and leading many online users to speculate whether the accounts were hacked or if there was a cryptic hint about an upcoming announcement.

The White House did not provide an immediate comment on the matter.

It remains unclear if the videos were purposefully shared. This incident follows previous occurrences where the Trump administration's White House social media posted meme-themed content.
