Scott Mills is facing renewed scrutiny following allegations of “serious sexual offences” involving a boy under 16, dating back to the late 1990s.

The former BBC Radio 2 presenter was recently sacked amid the allegations, which have now seen a significant development.

The alleged incidents reportedly took place between 1997 and 2000. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the individual involved was under 16 at the time.

While Mills was questioned in 2018 as part of an investigation that began in 2016, the Crown Prosecution Service closed the case in 2019 due to insufficient evidence, and no charges were brought.

It has emerged that Mills allegedly remained in contact with the individual for several years, with sources claiming the friendship continued until 2006.

One source told The Sun: “A lot of Scott's friends knew about this lad. Scott stayed in touch with him, and I first heard about him in 2001.”

The BBC terminated Mills’ contract on March 31 following the receipt of “significant new information” related to the case, according to reports in The Mirror

The broadcaster confirmed it is reviewing the details to better understand what was previously known and said it is “doing more work to understand the detail of what was known by the BBC at this time.”

Mills, 53, has not publicly commented on the latest developments. The investigation remains a sensitive and ongoing matter.
