Olivia Munn has opened up about the emotional and physical toll of her cancer recovery, revealing that a heartfelt reflection from Catherine, Princess of Wales brought her unexpected comfort during a difficult phase of her journey.

The 45-year-old actress, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, shared that the Princess of Wales’ remarks about life after treatment deeply resonated with her, helping her put complex feelings into words.

Speaking in a recent interview with People, Munn recalled how Catherine’s perspective on the post-treatment phase struck a chord.

She explained that while the diagnosis and treatment are often seen as the biggest hurdles, it is the aftermath that can be equally, if not more, challenging.

Quoting the royal’s sentiment, Munn said she finally felt understood. “It really touched me and gave me a sense of peace,” she said, noting that hearing someone articulate those struggles made her feel less alone.

Catherine, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 and later announced she was in remission, had previously spoken during a visit to Colchester Hospital about the difficulty of adjusting to a “new normal” after treatment. She described the period as a “roller coaster,” emphasizing that recovery is rarely as smooth as people expect.

Munn echoed those challenges, admitting that her own recovery has been far from easy. After undergoing multiple surgeries for what she described as an aggressive form of breast cancer, the actress said the ongoing medication and its side effects have been particularly taxing.

She revealed that the intensity of her treatment plan, shaped by the nature of her diagnosis and personal health factors, has brought symptoms including exhaustion, mood swings, and body aches.

At times, Munn said she struggled with feeling isolated, especially when others undergoing similar treatments did not report the same side effects. “I thought, ‘I’m the only one getting this,’” she admitted.

However, hearing shared experiences, especially from high-profile figures like the Princess of Wales, has helped shift that perspective.

Munn added that there is a powerful sense of relief in knowing others are navigating similar challenges.

“You feel so much better when you know you’re not alone,” she said, underscoring the importance of openness around recovery and survivorship.
