Eamonn Holmes was seen smiling and having a good time with his girlfriend Katie Alexander just two days before experiencing a severe stroke.

The 66-year-old television personality appeared to be in high spirits at an Easter gathering, raising a glass for a picture while seated in his mobility chair.

His friend Alex Rayner, a TikTok star and acquaintance of Prince Harry, posted a video where Eamonn jested, “I’m not going to win the egg and spoon race.”

However, just a few hours later on Tuesday, he was discovered collapsed at his residence in Kingston-upon-Thames by a caregiver and was quickly taken to the hospital.

He was expected to make a return to GB News this week after a break of a month but is still in the hospital.

A close friend mentioned, “It has been a frightening experience. Eamonn became unwell at home, and those close to him have been extremely concerned.

Fortunately, Eamonn is on the mend. Katie has almost continuously stayed with him at the hospital, leaving only to change clothes at their home.

“She deeply cares for him and is doing everything possible to support him.

“Everyone is hoping he'll be back home shortly.”

Eamonn’s former spouse, Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford, 66, is receiving updates through their son Jack, 23.

The separated couple, who were married for 14 years, are currently undergoing divorce proceedings after their 2024 separation.

A source shared, “Ruth is worried for him, as he's the father of her child, and she's rooting for his well-being. The entire family was notified about the situation.”

Eamonn's health challenges began surfacing in 2021 after experiencing three slipped discs and a dislocated pelvis.

Following surgery, he began using a wheelchair the subsequent year and now has daily caregiver support.

His progress was significantly impeded when he fractured his shoulder during a fall down the stairs at his home in October 2022.

This incident left him unable to attend his mother Josie’s funeral in Belfast in November 2022. Eamonn mentioned missing the service as "the most heartbreaking" sorrow of his life.

Discussing his health last month, the Northern Irishman admitted, "Well, I've felt better.

"Someone helps dress me each morning, another helps undress me at night, and someone prepares my meals. I need to undergo spinal injections to see if they stimulate recovery and allow life back into my spine and legs."

He described relying on caregivers as both “embarrassing and humbling.”

Eamonn and relationship counselor Katie, 44, have been a couple since his marriage ended.

Reportedly, they connected years ago, supposedly exchanging messages on the social media platform X dating back to 2015.

Eamonn recently referred to mother-of-three Katie as a ‘perfect remedy’ for his challenges.

He shared, “While I may have physical struggles, my mind remains sharp.
