Fans and friends have shared emotional tributes following the news
My 600-Lb. Life star Dolly Martinez has died at the age of 30, her family confirmed in a heartfelt announcement shared on April 11.
Her sister, Lindsey Cooper, announced the news on Facebook, describing Martinez as someone whose warmth, laughter, and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone around her.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beautiful sister, Dolly,” Cooper wrote. “Dolly had the brightest personality; she could light up any room with her laughter, her kindness, and her loving spirit.”
She added that Martinez had a special way of making others feel valued, noting that her presence will be deeply missed.
“You will always be loved, always be missed, and never forgotten,” she wrote, adding that she finds comfort in believing her sister is now reunited with their late father.
Martinez, who appeared on season 10 of the TLC series, was 25 when she documented her struggle with severe obesity, food addiction, and mental health challenges.
During her episode, she spoke openly about using food as a coping mechanism, saying it helped her manage emotional pain and difficult thoughts.
The show later followed her move from Fort Worth, Texas, to Houston to work with bariatric surgeon Dr. Now, in hopes of qualifying for weight-loss surgery.
While she managed to lose around 40 pounds, she ultimately did not qualify for the procedure during her time on the series.
Her family has not publicly disclosed a cause of death.
Following the news, friends, fans, and viewers of the show shared tributes online, expressing condolences and remembering Martinez for her openness and strength.
TLC has not yet issued a public statement regarding her passing.
