- His final film, Dirty Hands, was released on digital platforms today.
Shana Muldoon Zappa, the sister of the late actor Patrick Muldoon, has shared a touching final video sent by her brother just hours before his sudden death.
Posting to Instagram on Wednesday, Zappa revealed a clip Muldoon had sent to the family group chat while attending the opening of the David Geffen Galleries at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
In the video, Muldoon—best known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Starship Troopers—is seen admiring a 1622 painting of Saint Ignatius of Loyola.
He playfully recited a chant from his football days at Loyola High School, joking that the saint was likely thinking the same thing in the artwork.
Muldoon passed away on Sunday, at the age of 57, following a fatal heart attack at his home in Beverly Hills. His sister noted the profound nature of his final message, which she felt bridged his identity as a "joke-ster," an artist, and a "spiritually connected" individual.
"I continue to speak of him in present tense," Zappa wrote in her emotional caption. "Because his spirit is all around me.
He just changed forms." The family is still processing the loss and has stated that details for a public celebration of his life will be shared at a later date.
The actor’s death came as a shock to the industry, as he had remained highly active in professional projects.
Just two days before his passing, Muldoon expressed excitement on social media about executive producing the star-studded crime thriller Kockroach, featuring Chris Hemsworth and Taron Egerton.
His final on-screen performance can be seen in the thriller Dirty Hands, released today.
The film reunites him with his lifelong friend and former costar Denise Richards, who recently paid tribute to Muldoon as her "voice of reason" and "best friend" of 36 years.
