Anne Hathaway risks it all in sheer dress at 'Mother Mary' premiere

Anne Hathaway made a striking appearance at the London premiere of Mother Mary, stepping out in a bold, sheer ensemble that quickly captured attention on the red carpet.

The Oscar-winning actress, 43, attended the special screening on April 23 wearing a black chiffon gown from Iris van Herpen’s Spring/Summer 2020 couture collection. 

The dramatic look featured a sheer, gothic design with long flared sleeves and a choker-style neckline, aligning with the dark aesthetic of her latest film.

Keeping accessories minimal, Hathaway opted for simple gold hoop earrings, allowing the statement dress to take center stage.

She completed the look with an elegant half-up, half-down hairstyle, adding to the refined yet edgy appearance.

The premiere look marks a contrast to the softer, more classic styles she has recently worn while promoting The Devil Wears Prada 2, where she has appeared in structured couture gowns across various cities.

Hathaway’s latest project, Mother Mary, sees her take on the role of a pop superstar reconnecting with her estranged friend and former collaborator. 

The film also required her to perform original songs written by FKA Twigs, Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX.

In a recent interview, Hathaway admitted the musical aspect of the role pushed her out of her comfort zone. 

She revealed that transitioning from stage-trained vocals to recording with a microphone proved challenging, noting that pop singing requires a level of “effortless power” she found difficult to master.

Despite the demanding preparation, the actress reflected that the experience reinforced her passion for acting over performing as a pop star.
