The renowned voice actor Benoit Rousseau has passed away at 66.

Rousseau was best recognised for his voice work in the French Canadian adaptation of The Simpsons.

The actor was also famous for dubbing the voice of Mike Myers in the French version of the Austin Powers series.

His passing was announced in an obituary, which also shared details of his upcoming funeral.

No cause of death was shared, but it had been previously noted that the actor was battling cancer.

Rousseau had a distinguished career voicing in the French Canadian versions of Disney's hits like Toy Story (1995) and Toy Story 2 (1999).

He also participated in other Disney animated classics like Finding Nemo (2003), The Incredibles (2004), and The Incredibles 2 (2018).

In The Simpsons, he portrayed characters such as Lenny, Mr. Burns, Duffman, and Abraham Simpson.

The voice actor also contributed to several live-action films including Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018).

In 2018, he worked on the biographical film Bohemian Rhapsody, providing the voice for the character Ray Foster.

Rousseau made appearances on screen in Canada, featuring in Trois fois rien, Lâcher prise, and Avant le crash.

The director of Avant le crash, Stéphane Lapointe, expressed his condolences on Facebook.

“Ohhh, what a shock this morning. Our friend Benoit Rousseau has left us,” he expressed.

“I often accompanied him to hockey games; he would shout amusing things at rival players. In the same sarcastic Simpsons manner, which he adapted for Quebec.

“We collaborated professionally frequently too. A highly intellectual, incredibly humorous, sensitive guy… Wow. I’m really going to miss him. Rest in peace, Ben!!”

Filmmaker Martin Villeneuve also lauded his tremendous talent in a post online.

“When in 2022, we had to address a major aspect of adapting Red Ketchup – the animated series, only one person in Quebec could undertake the task of dubbing in Quebec French: Benoit Rousseau,” he mentioned.

“This exceptional skill – which he honed over three decades, notably with The Simpsons – he generously applied to the zany FBI agent role for more than a year.

“It was during this time that I discovered not just his talent, but also the man himself.”He is survived by his wife, Johanne Léveillé.
