Anne Hathaway has revealed that her favorite outfit from The Devil Wears Prada 2 never made it into the final cut, despite being one of the standout looks she wore during filming.

Speaking at the film’s European premiere in London on April 22, the Oscar-winning actress said the deleted ensemble was a personal favourite—though it ultimately didn’t survive the editing process.

“I loved it so much,” Hathaway said, describing the look as a “Phoebe Philo T-shirt, train thing,” adding that it was “a garment, more than anything else.”

The actress explained that she had told director David Frankel it was her favourite outfit before seeing the final cut of the film. His response, she recalled, was blunt: it had been removed.

“He’s like, ‘It’s gone,’” Hathaway said, laughing. “And I was like, ‘Well, maybe it was good that the paparazzi were there.’”

The outfit was previously spotted during filming in New York City in July 2025, where Hathaway was photographed in a white T-shirt with a flowing train, paired with cropped trousers, matching heels, and oversized accessories.

In the sequel to the 2006 hit, Hathaway reprises her role as Andy Sachs, now an award-winning investigative journalist whose career takes an unexpected turn when she returns to the world of Runway magazine and her former boss, Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep.

Beyond the missing outfit, Hathaway also reflected on how both she and her character have evolved over the past two decades.

She said Andy is now more confident and focused on authenticity rather than approval.

“Twenty years ago, Andy Sachs was really worried about getting it right… and now I think she wants to be herself,” she said.

Hathaway noted that this shift mirrors her own growth as well, describing a shared journey toward self-assurance.

The actress has also embraced nostalgia during the film’s press tour, recently revisiting one of Andy Sachs’ most iconic looks from the original film during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Styled by Erin Walsh, Hathaway wore the kelly green coat with cheetah-print detailing originally featured in the 2006 film, a piece she reportedly acquired through auction.

The return of the iconic outfit served as a fitting tribute as the sequel continues to bring fashion and nostalgia back to the big screen.
