Margot Robbie returned to fashion's biggest night after a three-year hiatus, making a significant impression at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The 35-year-old actress arrived in a fitted gold gown with a cascading train, a look perfectly aligned with the evening's "Fashion Is Art" dress code.
This custom Chanel gown was designed by the fashion house's new creative director, Matthieu Blazy, and featured a draped, fitted bodice alongside a flowing skirt. The garment’s delicate train was meticulously lined with flower petal appliqués in a matching golden hue.
The level of craftsmanship involved in the creation was extraordinary. Vogue reported that the gown included nearly 1,100 pieces of embroidery and required a total of 761 hours to complete.
Robbie accessorised her ensemble with a ring on each hand and drop earrings, while her blonde hair was styled into a sophisticated updo.
This year’s theme is tied to the "Costume Art" exhibition. Curator Andrew Bolton explained, “It will be transformative for our department, but I also think it's going to be transformative to fashion more generally — the fact that an art museum like The Met is actually giving a central location to fashion."
The exhibition explores the dressed body by pairing historical garments with paintings and sculptures. Robbie’s appearance continues her long-standing relationship with the event, which began with her 2014 debut in Prada.
Since then, she has transitioned from understated Calvin Klein designs to archival Chanel pieces. Her presence at the gala solidifies her status as a global brand ambassador and a key figure in the intersection of cinema and high fashion.
