Helen Mirren will be the guest of honor at Italy’s Taormina Film Festival this June, where she will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during a tribute event for the late Italian acting icon Anna Magnani.

“It is a tremendous honor to welcome Helen Mirren to the Taormina Film Festival. Her talent, grace, and exceptional career truly capture the essence of our Festival,” said Artistic Director Tiziana Rocca.

“Her talent, grace, and remarkable career truly capture the essence of our Festival. Awarding her the Lifetime Achievement Award on a night paying tribute to Anna Magnani creates a perfect connection between two cinematic icons, both known for their unique power of interpretation and their exceptional ability to touch audiences. Helen Mirren’s presence enhances this edition, making it even more esteemed and global.”

Key highlights of Mirren’s five-decade career include her Oscar-winning role in The Queen, along with Gosford Park, Golda, and the renowned series Prime Suspect.

The homage to Magnani will present a showing in Taormina's historic open-air theater of a restored version of Luchino Visconti’s Bellissima, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the film’s release and the actress’s acclaimed leading role.

The 72nd Taormina Film Festival is scheduled from June 10 to 14.
