She may look angelic with a voice to match, but her lyrics carry a bite that the devil might envy.

As she gears up for her third chapter with her first album in a couple of years, Gracie Abrams is ready to reveal her romantic journeys yet again.

At 26, Gracie has teased her album's leading track on social media – seemingly focused on the beginnings of her love story with the Irish actor Paul Mescal, now 29.

The romance between Gracie and Paul is a hot topic in Hollywood, but fans are apprehensive her new, intense lyrics might hint at a bumpy phase in their relationship.

Following a blissful summer in 2024, rumors suggest the couple faced challenges last January.

The two were reportedly seen in a heated discussion at Jolene bakery and restaurant in North London, ending with Gracie leaving tearfully.

In her anticipated single, the Close to You artist seemingly acknowledges a rocky time with Paul.

Inspired by Taylor Swift, Gracie refrains from naming names in her lyrics.

Nevertheless, Gracie, daughter of director J.J. Abrams, writes candidly from her life experiences. Since her last album, The Secret of Us, many believe Paul has been her sole boyfriend.

In her yet untitled track, Gracie reflects: “I once saw clearly but now my eyes are bloodshot.

“I long for you intensely, yet I hold back.

“I imagined us getting married, but maybe not.

“Now you'll see me hit rock bottom.”

Listeners interpret this as Gracie’s heartbreak over her separation from Paul, leading to tear-stained, bloodshot eyes.

The phrase: “I imagined us getting married, but maybe not,” aligns perfectly with this sentiment.

The sneak peek further reveals that Gracie has been cautious in life following several unsuccessful flings.

She confesses her fear of being hurt might actually drive her relationships to fall apart.

She sings: “I’m the flawed pavement, a tangled knot.

“I fear my defenses are fragile.

“I should know the game, but I lost track.

“It felt right for a day, then it faded.”

Gracie acknowledged that her song Death Wish, released last March, portrays a friend’s ordeal of dating a narcissist. However, she clarified it wasn’t her personal experience.

She previously shared: “The song emerged from a dear friend's time with a major narcissist... ”

“A close friend recently went through a bad relationship with someone truly awful. Listening to their stories inspired this song.”

By last summer, Paul and Gracie were reconciled and thriving as a couple.

The Sun reported how Paul was spotted at Gracie’s set at Glastonbury Festival, cheering enthusiastically like a proud beau.

He was accompanied by his Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones, now 27, and their close ally and fellow actor Andrew Scott, aged 49.

With her performance over, Paul and Gracie made the most of their time at Worthy Farm.

Not only did they celebrate deep into the night, but Gracie was also captured enjoying herself atop Paul’s shoulders while witnessing Olivia Rodrigo take the main stage on Sunday.

It wasn't until February this year that they made their formal debut as a couple on the red carpet.

Gracie accompanied Paul at the Baftas in London – proudly standing close for the cameras.

They showcased their affection once more at the Oscars just a few weeks later.

In March, The Sun’s Bizarre column shared how Gracie began living full-time in Paul’s North London residence.

Currently, Paul must remain in the city for filming Sam Mendes’ series of biopics about The Beatles.

He is set to portray Paul McCartney alongside Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon.

An insider close to the singer mentioned: “Paul and Gracie are a strong pair.”

“He is thoroughly enjoying life, managing film commitments, awards seasons with Hamnet, and being settled with Gracie.”

“The advantage of his long-term project is they can put down roots in one place, avoiding being two ships passing in the night.”

“They have been balancing their professional lives, with her setting up base in London to write and record.”

“Gracie relishes exploring the city and has even visited Ireland. Her contentment might extend her stay.”

“They seem deeply intertwined and serious about each other.”
