Prince Harry has extended a heartfelt homage to David Attenborough as the iconic broadcaster nears his 100th birthday tomorrow.

Sir David expressed that he feels "utterly touched by birthday messages" and conveyed his gratitude to all who have wished him well ahead of his centennial celebration on Friday.

The cherished naturalist mentioned his preference for a "quiet" 100th birthday celebration.

His significant milestone will be celebrated with a live gathering at the Royal Albert Hall, featuring music from his documentaries, accompanied by narratives and insights from notable personalities and prominent advocates for nature conservation.

Furthermore, the "remarkable" host has received a moving tribute from the Duke of Sussex.

"Sir David Attenborough isn't just a TV presenter; he is a secular saint," Harry shared in Time magazine this evening.

"He is a fundamental part of our culture, as familiar as a cup of tea.

"His gentle narrations have been the comforting backdrop of home life—a collective experience that transformed the weekend nature show into a cherished national custom."

Harry commented that Sir David "offers a unique vision of the world" and "gained everyone’s trust by simply illustrating why nature deserves our admiration."

The prince applauded his "calm approach and absence of any hidden motives," calling him "a man who has witnessed everything firsthand."

Harry concluded by saying Sir David "has dedicated his life to providing us with the truth with grace, integrity, and awe," further posing, "The real question is if those in positions of authority will step up before we lose more of our planet—our crucial life support."

The esteemed broadcaster has maintained a close connection with the Royal Family, particularly with Harry's brother, Prince William, united by their sincere concern for environmental issues.

The two have been acquaintances for many years, backing each other in numerous projects.

Last year, the royal and the historian made a heartfelt appeal at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco to protect the planet's oceanic resources.

When questioned about the condition of the oceans by William on stage, Sir David replied: "The disturbing reality is that it remains obscured from most of us.

"What horrified me when I initially viewed the images captured for this project is how dreadfully we have damaged the deep ocean floor, which is beyond words."

It is thought that Sir David also shares a strong personal bond with King Charles. The king accompanied the broadcasting legend last year for the debut of his film Ocean with David Attenborough.

Widespread admiration for Sir David might suggest his name should be included in the term "national treasure" in a dictionary.

Fans online have maintained their support as he turns 100.

"The term national treasure is frequently overused, often on the trivial, but Sir David Attenborough embodies its true meaning," one admirer shared on X.

"Indeed, we ought to cherish his presence. Here’s to Sir David, on his milestone 100th birthday."

Another user remarked: "Sir David Attenborough celebrates 100 years tomorrow. An extraordinary icon in Great Britain and globally."

"While I’m no nature aficionado, in a world full of chaos and threats, I’m thankful for the presence of the remarkable David Attenborough. Happy 100th," shared one individual.

Another commented: "HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY DAVID ATTENBOROUGH!!!"
