An actor has been found guilty of attempted murder after his former girlfriend was stabbed more than 20 times.

Nick Pasqual was earlier accused of forcing entry into Hollywood makeup artist Allie Shehorn's home in Los Angeles at approximately 4:30am local time on May 23, 2024.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office reported that he “caused significant bodily harm to the victim under conditions of domestic violence” and “personally wielded a knife during the crime.”

The actor from How I Met Your Mother reportedly left the scene before being apprehended at a checkpoint along the US/Mexico border in Sierra Blanca, Texas.

Almost two years later, on Friday (May 8), a California court found Pasqual guilty of attempted murder, first-degree residential burglary with a person present, and causing injury to a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, or parent of a child, as reported by ABC7.

During the proceedings at the San Fernando Courthouse, Shehorn, bearing visible scars on her arm and neck, described a violent altercation with Pasqual that reportedly ended their relationship.

“I bolted the door but he just began smashing holes in it and eventually broke through,” she stated, according to ABC7. “I dashed into the bathroom because it had another lock.”

Five days before the attack, Pasqual was booked into a Los Angeles detention center but freed on a $50,000 bond.

“As soon as he paid his bail, he went after her,” Shehorn's friend, Jeff Dornoff, mentioned to PEOPLE in May 2024.

Though Shehorn had secured a restraining order against Pasqual due to domestic abuse, her friend Christine White discovered her in a pool of blood on the morning of May 23, with what seemed to be over 20 stab wounds, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

“I just told her to keep pressure on her neck to halt the bleeding,” White earlier informed the source.

After enduring 14 hours of extensive life-saving and reconstructive surgeries for the stab wounds that covered her body, Shehorn spent several days in intensive care before relocating to another part of the hospital.

“Allie Shehorn is actively working toward recovery,” Dornoff noted in a GoFundMe update on May 29, 2024. “It’s undeniably a long journey, yet she approaches it with bravery and determination.”

More than a month later, he mentioned that Shehorn, known for her work on Mean Girls, Rebel Moon, and Babylon, was “progressing well” and had made “significant advancements in her healing process.”

“Allie is blessed with a fantastic circle of family and friends who’ve provided her with a place to stay, transportation, and the care she requires,” Dornoff wrote on July 16, 2024.

“The most crucial thing is she’s been kept safe and happy, vital to her wonderful recovery.”

“Thank you once again to everyone for the love, support, and messages,” he continued.

“When this ordeal concludes, Allie will share her story here, letting you know what transpired. For now, we are cautious with the details due to the ongoing court proceedings.”
