Kylie Jenner's steamy water-drenched photoshoot for new lip line leaves fans confused
Kylie Jenner has launched a new line of hydrating lip products for her brand, Kylie Cosmetics
Kylie Cosmetics has unveiled its latest collection with a campaign that is getting everyone talking. In a series of posts on Monday, founder Kylie Jenner, 28, appeared in a steamy, water-drenched photoshoot to announce the arrival of her new "Coconut Water Lip Stains" and "Cloud Balms."
The promotional content includes an artistic black-and-white video of Jenner in a shower-like setting and photos of her being splashed with water, all designed to highlight the new line's hydrating qualities.
The launch, however, left some fans humorously questioning the artistic direction. While many followers praised the stunning visuals, with one commenting "Everyone else can go home now," others were cheekily confused.
"Girly pop what does this shoot have to do with lip stains lmao," one user asked. Another joked that the final, unrelated shot was because she "just wanted to serve."
The brand's caption explains the products are "your new hydrating lip essentials," linking the water theme to the core benefit of the "skincare-rich formulas."
Tapping into a Major Trend
The move is a strategic one, tapping directly into the booming 2026 "hybrid makeup" trend, which sees consumers demanding cosmetics with added skincare benefits.
The new products are formulated with ingredients like coconut water and shea butter, both known for their intense moisturising properties.
According to the brand, the Pomegranate sterols in the Cloud Balm can hold more than double their weight in water, promising serious hydration.
This carefully planned launch was subtly teased just a week prior at the Met Gala on 4 May. Jenner walked the red carpet in a full face of her own products, where her makeup artist later revealed a then-unreleased "Cloud Balm" was used to prep her lips.
This clever marketing tactic built anticipation for the hydrating new line, which successfully merges Jenner's signature glamour with the growing consumer demand for functional beauty.
