Hilary Duff details struggles of fourth pregnancy and life as a mother of four

Hilary Duff has reflected candidly on her experience with pregnancy, revealing that carrying her fourth child left her in significant physical discomfort and led her to believe her body may be signaling that it was time to stop expanding her family.

The 38-year-old actress and mother of four made the comments during a recent appearance on the Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce podcast, where she spoke openly about the challenges of pregnancy, motherhood, and recovery.

Duff shares four children with her husband, Matthew Koma, and former husband Mike Comrie.

‘My body was like, we’re done’

Duff said her fourth pregnancy, with daughter Townes, was the first time she experienced notable physical pain during the third trimester.

“For me, by my third trimester of my fourth [pregnancy], in my body, for the first time, being pregnant was, like, in a lot of pain,” she said. “I think my body was like, we don't need to do this again.”

She added that balancing pregnancy while caring for three other children made the experience even more demanding, noting that she was constantly active and on her feet throughout the day.

“I can’t keep up with three kids and be as active and running around with them,” she said, adding, “My body was like, we’re done.”

‘I hate being pregnant, but I love the outcome.’

Despite her difficulties, Duff emphasized that her feelings were not rooted in regret but in the physical and emotional toll of pregnancy itself.

“It’s never been easy. No pregnancy, not a single one of my pregnancies have I ever just been like, ‘Oh my god, I love this!’” she said. “I don’t love it. I love the outcome of it. Hate being pregnant.”

She also described the discomfort of carrying a child and the adjustment period after birth, saying it takes time to feel like herself again.

Recovery, family life, and touring plans

Duff said the most rewarding part comes after childbirth, when she regains her sense of normalcy and routine.

“It's all worth it,” she said, describing the moment she feels like “a person again” after recovery.

The Lizzie McGuire star shares daughters Banks, Mae, and Townes with Koma, and son Luca with Comrie. She has recently spoken about balancing motherhood with her upcoming Lucky Me tour, which she plans to turn into a family road trip.
