The Rolling Stones are revisiting their legacy in a new music video that blends nostalgia, performance energy, and cutting-edge visual storytelling for their latest single, In the Stars.

Directed by François Rousselet, the video marks his third collaboration with the iconic band and features actress Odessa A’Zion guiding viewers through a high-energy jam session that brings together more than 100 musicians, singers, and dancers in one immersive space.

The concept imagines younger versions of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood gathered in a packed, electric recording environment, where live performance energy drives the entire visual narrative.

According to Rousselet, the production was designed to feel as authentic and fluid as a real live session, with performers required to quickly learn and embody the track on camera.

“One of the challenges was not simply casting the sheer volume of talent required… but ensuring every performer could convincingly inhabit the world of the band,” Rousselet said. “Each musician had to quickly learn and perform the track in a way that felt authentic on camera.”

He added that maintaining natural movement and spontaneity was essential to preserving the energy of the performance, rather than relying heavily on controlled studio setups or overly rigid staging.

“The key was finding leads for the band who could truly sell the physicality of the performance,” he said. “That human element was critical. Without it, the de-aging wouldn’t feel believable or emotionally real.”

Rousselet also reflected on his long-standing admiration for the band, describing the project as a personal milestone.

“To direct a third video for The Rolling Stones as someone who grew up as a true fan is an incredible privilege,” he said. “Their music has shaped generations, including mine.”

The production also incorporated advanced visual effects, with creative input from Deep Voodoo’s Jennifer Howell, who praised the collaboration between music heritage and modern technology.

“The Rolling Stones revolutionised music and culture and have continued to do so throughout their careers,” Howell said. “Having the opportunity to pair the band with cutting edge technology has been an absolute dream.”
