Penélope Cruz delivered a striking final red carpet moment at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, arriving at the closing ceremony in a vintage haute couture look that immediately became one of the standout fashion statements of the event.

The Madrid-born Oscar winner attended the closing night alongside filmmakers Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi as their film La bola negra emerged as one of the festival’s most talked-about titles, earning major acclaim and strong awards buzz during the competition.

Held at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, the ceremony marked the conclusion of the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, with winners being unveiled after a highly competitive year.

Cruz, a Chanel ambassador known for her refined red carpet style, closed out her Cannes appearances in a dramatic archival Georges Chakra haute couture gown originally designed for the 2012–2013 collection.

The strapless black-and-white design featured intricate feather detailing across the bodice, paired with a voluminous black satin skirt and flowing train.

The contrasting structure and texture gave the look a bold, sculptural presence under the festival lights.

Throughout the week, Cruz had leaned into a monochrome fashion theme, appearing in a series of dark, elegant ensembles ranging from vintage-inspired silhouettes to feather-trimmed couture gowns.

Her final look, however, introduced a sharper contrast with the addition of bright white elements, elevating the visual impact of her closing appearance.

She completed the ensemble with statement diamond jewelry by Pasquale Bruni, along with a classic beauty look featuring bold red lipstick, matching nails, and softly waved hair styled with a deep side part.

Industry photographers captured the actress commanding attention on the red carpet, with her look widely shared as one of the defining fashion highlights of Cannes 2026.

La bola negra, directed by Calvo and Ambrossi, had already established itself as one of the festival’s major success stories, reportedly receiving an extended standing ovation following its screening and drawing strong critical response.

The film’s ensemble cast includes several prominent names, and its reception placed it among the standout entries of this year’s competition.
