Jennifer Lopez revives iconic 2001 denim in viral dance clip with Mika Abdalla

Jennifer Lopez has taken fans on a nostalgic fashion trip, confirming she wore her original lace-up jeans from her 2001 “Ain’t It Funny” music video during a new recreation of a viral Off Campus scene with actress Mika Abdalla.
The 56-year-old star shared an Instagram video over the weekend showing her dancing alongside Abdalla, 26, in a playful recreation of a party moment inspired by the Prime Video series Off Campus.
The scene references Abdalla’s character, Allie Hayes, who famously recreates Lopez’s iconic green Versace dress moment from the 2000 era in the show’s first season.
In the clip, Abdalla lip-syncs a line from the series, before Lopez responds with her own playful reaction, followed by the pair embracing and dancing to Lopez’s 2011 hit “On the Floor.”
Lopez captioned the video, “It’s a new Jeneration of party people….” marking the collaboration as a celebration of both nostalgia and pop culture crossover.
Fans quickly noticed Lopez’s low-rise lace-up denim, which bore a strong resemblance to the pair she wore in her “Ain’t It Funny” music video. The singer later confirmed on X that the jeans were the original piece from the 2001 shoot.
“They’re the same ones from that video,” she wrote, responding to fan speculation.
Lopez has recently shown enthusiasm for Off Campus, a Prime Video series that premiered on May 13 and quickly gained attention online for its fashion-driven storyline.
She previously shared and praised clips from the show on social media, calling it a standout and expressing admiration for Abdalla’s performance.
Abdalla, meanwhile, has spoken about the elaborate process behind recreating Lopez’s iconic Versace-inspired dress for the series, describing multiple fittings and a highly detailed costume design process.
The actress said she anticipated the scene would resonate with viewers, noting the strong cultural connection between the original Lopez fashion moment and the show’s modern reinterpretation.
