Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards has become a great-grandfather following the birth of his granddaughter Ella Richards' first child.

Ella, who celebrated her 30th birthday over the weekend, shared the joyful news on her Instagram channel, revealing both the name and gender of her newborn. In a tender photograph, she is pictured lying beside her baby daughter on a blanket, visibly besotted.

The little girl has been named Luna.

"30!! best birthday yet with our baby girl Luna," Ella wrote in the caption accompanying the post.

Ella and Sascha welcome their first child together

Ella shares Luna with her long-term boyfriend, photographer Sascha von Bismarck, whom she went public with in 2023. The couple confirmed the pregnancy back in March by sharing a striking black-and-white photograph of Ella's baby bump on social media.

Family ties and a rock and roll legacy

Ella's father, Marlon Richards, is Keith's eldest son from his relationship with the late model and actress Anita Pallenberg, who passed away aged 75 following complications from hepatitis C.

Keith, now 82, remains one of the most iconic figures in rock music. A founding member of the Rolling Stones, he serves as both lead and rhythm guitarist and is a co-principal songwriter for the band. He has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Keith is the second current Rolling Stones member to become a great-grandfather, following in the footsteps of his bandmate Sir Mick Jagger. Jagger's granddaughter Assisi Jackson welcomed her first child back in 2014.
