Halle Bailey reveals her favourite mom moments while gushing over son Halo
The star said cuddles with Halo remain her favourite part of being a mom
Halle Bailey is embracing motherhood with gratitude, describing her two-year-old son Halo as the “biggest blessing” in her life.
Speaking at the 86th Peabody Awards held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills on May 31, the actress and singer reflected on her experience as a mother and the hopes she has for her young son.
Bailey, 26, shared that motherhood has been a “beautiful thing,” adding that raising Halo remains one of the most meaningful parts of her life.
The actress, who shares her son with former partner DDG, said she hopes to nurture qualities such as kindness, awareness and compassion in him.
“I’m just trying to raise someone who’s loving, who’s kind, who is aware, who’s intuitive,” Bailey said, noting that Halo already displays many of those traits. “I’m just hoping I’m doing my best.”
The star also revealed her favorite part of being a mother, pointing to the affectionate bond she shares with her son.
According to Bailey, Halo is a “very clingy” and cuddly child, making their quiet moments together especially meaningful.
Bailey famously kept her pregnancy private before welcoming Halo in December 2023. She publicly announced his birth in January 2024, calling him the greatest gift of her life and explaining later that her decision to keep the experience out of the spotlight came from a desire to protect her family.
“There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone,” she previously said while discussing her choice to keep the pregnancy secret.
The actress has also spoken candidly about the challenges that came after becoming a mother.
In 2024, Bailey revealed she experienced postpartum depression and struggled with being separated from her son for extended periods, describing the emotional experience as overwhelming at times.
Despite those challenges, Bailey has continued to embrace motherhood while balancing a busy career.
She previously explained that staying focused on work projects during pregnancy helped her maintain a sense of normalcy amid the emotional changes she was experiencing.
Bailey and DDG ended their relationship in October 2024 after more than two years together.
The former couple later faced legal disputes involving custody and restraining-order requests before ultimately reaching a co-parenting agreement in October 2025.
