A representative from the Fairfield Police Department stated the incident took place around 7:15 p.m. in the parking area of Sem Yeto High School during their graduation event.

The ceremony was hosted at Fairfield High School, located southwest of Sacramento.

One individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining three were taken to local hospitals for treatment, officials stated.

Mayor Alma Hernandez of Suisun City mentioned in a Facebook post that efforts are being made to locate the shooter.

The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District issued a statement to CBS News Sacramento explaining that the shooting took place at the end of the ceremony.

The Solano County Sheriff's Office has joined forces with Fairfield police to assist in the inquiry.

Sem Yeto, a continuation high school, shares its campus with Fairfield High.
