Taylor Swift draws backlash for appearance at Knicks Game
Taylor Swift courtside Knicks Game 4 sparks reaction from Hank Azaria at NBA Finals
Taylor Swift drew attention at Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs after attending courtside at Madison Square Garden, prompting actor Hank Azaria to say he was “bothered” by her presence at the event.
The pop star attended the pivotal matchup on Wednesday night alongside friends Alana and Este Haim, as the Knicks hosted one of the most high-profile celebrity crowds of the series.
Taylor Swift Sparks Reaction at Knicks Game
Taylor Swift’s appearance at the game stood out to longtime Knicks fan Hank Azaria, who discussed the celebrity turnout during an appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show.
“I’ll tell you the one that bothered me was Taylor Swift,” Azaria said. “Come on. I know she’s the hugest thing in the world, but we had to sit with her all through the NFL and now she’s at the Garden.”
He added that while the overall celebrity presence was notable, Swift became the most talked-about figure for him personally.
Celebrity Crowd at Madison Square Garden
Taylor Swift sat courtside with Alana and Este Haim of the band Haim, with the trio wearing Knicks-themed outfits, including a “Stevie Knicks” shirt referencing Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks.
Other celebrities in attendance included Mariska Hargitay, Ben Stiller, Rainn Wilson, Jeremy Strong, and Questlove, as the arena hosted a star-heavy NBA Finals game.
Ticket Access and Seating Challenges
Hank Azaria also commented on the difficulty of securing premium seating at Madison Square Garden, saying allocations are often confirmed on game day due to high demand.
“You don’t know from the Garden if you’re going to get in until that day,” he said, adding that even well-known figures are often placed in upper-level suites rather than courtside seats.
He noted that while he was grateful to attend Game 4, his viewing experience was impacted by seating location.
Knicks Take Commanding Series Lead
The New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 107–106 in Game 4, completing a historic 29-point comeback — the largest in NBA Finals history — to take a 3–1 series lead.
Game 5 is scheduled for Saturday in San Antonio, where the Knicks will attempt to secure their first championship in 53 years.
