Princess Charlotte is emerging as the British royal family's new star, according to body language expert Judi James.

The young royal accompanied her mother, Catherine, Princess of Wales, for King Charles' official birthday celebrations this week. James praised Charlotte for her growing confidence and her ability to connect with the public.

'Heavy lifting' at formal events

Speaking about Charlotte's behaviour, Judi James, body language expert, explained: "Charlotte is now officially the one who does all the heavy lifting in terms of sweetly stepping up into a star role at formal royal events like this."

James also compared Charlotte's response to that of her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis. Speaking to the Mirror, the expert said: "While Louis waved away happily and George grinned but rationed his waves, Charlotte leaned forward and turned to both sides to ensure every member of the waiting crowds got a wave of recognition from her."

According to James, Charlotte initially mirrored her mother's gestures before developing her own style of engagement. She noted: "Charlotte began by synchronising with her mother's waves, but as Kate sat watching with an expression of pride, her daughter continued to instigate her own 'tie-sign' waves to connect with the royal fans, even chatting to George and appearing to encourage his ongoing interest by pointing things out."
