Samsung launches AI pet health feature that screens dogs for knee and eye problems
Galaxy users can now upload a pet photo and receive an AI-generated health report
Samsung has unveiled an AI-powered pet health feature that allows Galaxy device users to photograph their pets and receive an AI-generated health report, screening for dental problems, cataracts and patella luxation in small dogs. The tool was announced at VivaTech 2026 — Europe's largest startup and technology conference — and was developed in partnership with pet health startup Lifet. The feature marks a notable expansion of Samsung's health-focused ambitions beyond human users.
How the feature works
The tool is accessible through the SmartThings application in conjunction with the Pet Care service offered by Lifet, available on compatible Galaxy devices. Once set up, a user uploads a photo of their pet, which is then analysed by Lifet's AI system, developed by Elevenliter. Samsung has noted that availability will vary depending on country, device model and region.
Lifet's track record
Lifet currently offers pet disease analysis through its own website and claims a 97% success rate for the conditions it diagnoses. The startup is an incubatee of Samsung through the company's external startup incubation programme, making the partnership a direct extension of Samsung's investment in emerging health technology. The collaboration signals a broader push by Samsung to position its Galaxy ecosystem as a platform for proactive health monitoring.
VivaTech showcase
Samsung launched the feature at the Connected Care Ecosystem Zone of the VivaTech event, using the occasion to demonstrate how its Galaxy range and the Samsung Health platform are being positioned around proactive care — not just for people, but for their pets as well.
The announcement drew attention as an example of AI moving into everyday consumer health applications beyond fitness tracking and call transcription. Samsung's presence at VivaTech underscored its intent to be seen as a broader health and wellness technology leader.
