Ben Stiller teases dream New York Knicks docuseries with HBO

Ben Stiller is taking his passion for the New York Knicks from the courtside seats to the screen with a new documentary series focused on the basketball franchise.

The 60-year-old actor and filmmaker revealed the project during an appearance on The Roommates Show podcast alongside Knicks players Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, sharing that he has been working on a behind-the-scenes look at the team.

Stiller explained that the documentary will explore different eras of the Knicks’ history, including the team’s long-standing legacy and recent success.

“Obviously, I've been shooting some stuff on my phone, but it's kind of gonna be about all eras of the Knicks,” Stiller said.

“There's a culmination here of something that has been going on for a long time, so it's super exciting.”

The project will be produced with HBO and A24, with cooperation from the NBA and Madison Square Garden, giving the filmmaker access to the team and its inner workings.

Stiller revealed that filming will continue into the next season, with plans to include interviews with players and capture more moments surrounding the franchise.

“We're going to probably be shooting a little bit more during next season,” he said. “A lot of people have wanted to make it happen for a long time.”

The Zoolander star described the series as a personal passion project, saying he “could not be more excited” about bringing the story of the Knicks to audiences.

“This is a dream project, so I cannot wait,” Stiller said.

The documentary is expected to highlight the Knicks’ journey through different generations, including their memorable years in the 1990s and their recent championship run, while featuring exclusive footage and previously unseen moments from the team’s history.
