Tyra Banks joins Heidi Klum in star-studded ‘Project Runway’ season 22 comeback
The former model returns to the fashion competition series in a new recurring role
Tyra Banks is stepping back into the spotlight as Project Runway returns with its highly anticipated 22nd season, unveiled in a new trailer released by Hulu.
The supermodel and television personality appears in the latest preview alongside returning judges Heidi Klum, Law Roach, and Nina Garcia, with season 4 winner Christian Siriano also returning as mentor.
Banks, best known for hosting America’s Next Top Model, previously appeared as a guest judge in season 21, but her latest role marks a more prominent return to the fashion competition franchise.
The new season is set to premiere on July 9, launching first on Freeform before streaming on Hulu and Disney+, with weekly episodes following the debut.
Season 22 will also feature the show’s largest designer lineup to date, with 22 contestants competing for the title.
A wide range of guest judges and celebrity appearances are expected throughout the season, including Ciara, Ice Spice, Iman, Kiernan Shipka, Niecy Nash, Nina Dobrev, designers Willy Chavarria and Sergio Hudson, as well as influencers Nara Smith and Paige DeSorbo.
The season will also include crossover appearances from Dancing with the Stars professionals and reality stars from Hulu and Bravo franchises, alongside returning Project Runway alumni.
Banks’ return to the series comes amid ongoing legal action related to a documentary about America’s Next Top Model, in which she has alleged she was misrepresented through selective editing and is seeking damages in a jury trial.
