Kourtney Kardashian credited with bringing ‘ease’ into Travis Barker’s life
Filmmakers say Barker has experienced emotional healing and stability in recent years
Kourtney Kardashian is being credited with helping Travis Barker find a greater sense of calm and emotional stability in recent years, according to the directors of his upcoming documentary.
The Blink-182 drummer, 50, has been married to Kourtney Kardashian since 2022, and filmmakers say the relationship has had a noticeable impact on his well-being.
Speaking to People, directors Justin Krook and Michael Dwyer said Barker appears to have experienced a shift toward peace and ease in his personal life.
“He was very close with his kids, but within the last couple of years, he’s found the love of his life and I’ve really seen this sense of ease permeate him,” Krook said. “You carry your shoulders like this and I just see him relaxing the last few years.”
The documentary explores Barker’s life and career, including the lasting trauma from a 2008 plane crash that left him with severe injuries and deep emotional scars, including a long-standing fear of flying.
The filmmakers said early production on the project included traveling with Barker aboard the Queen Mary 2 as he journeyed to Europe for tour commitments, an experience they believe helped shape the film’s emotional direction.
“I feel like that really set the tone of the movie we were going to make, which is a film about trauma and how do you overcome that,” Krook said.
However, the directors added that the film ultimately focuses less on “overcoming” trauma and more on learning to live with it over time.
“It was not necessarily about overcoming [trauma] because I don’t think you actually overcome [it],” Dwyer explained. “You actually live with [it].”
Barker has previously spoken openly about the aftermath of the crash, describing both the physical and emotional toll it took on him, including survivor’s guilt and the loss of close friends.
He has said the experience remained difficult for years, particularly due to the public nature of his recovery and the lasting impact of his injuries.
