Emily Blunt praises husband John Krasinski’s ‘amazing’ transformation into a director
The ‘Devil Wears Prada’ star praised her husband’s directing abilities after ‘A Quiet Place'
Emily Blunt opened up about working with her husband John Krasinski and the moment she realized he had a natural talent for directing.
The 43-year-old actress admitted that she initially had doubts about Krasinski stepping behind the camera for A Quiet Place, the 2018 thriller that they starred in together.
In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Blunt reflected on watching her husband take on his first major directing role and how the experience changed the way she saw him professionally.
Blunt recalled leaving the set on the first day of filming and questioning whether Krasinski was ready for the challenge.
“I had left it rather till the last minute to go, ‘Do you know how to shoot a movie?’ Because I don’t know how to shoot a movie,” she said.
She shared that Krasinski then asked her if she believed he knew what he was doing, which made her realize the uncertainty they both felt at the beginning of the project.
However, Blunt said the drive home after that first day gave her a completely different perspective.
“The drive home was clearly like, I’d had an awakening seeing that this person who I thought I knew everything about had this sort of secret power,” she explained.
The actress praised her husband’s filmmaking abilities, saying she was amazed by the talent he discovered while directing.
“It was really amazing seeing this whole other superpower that he had, and I don’t think he even knew what he was capable of doing,” Blunt said.
A Quiet Place became a major success and led to further installments in the franchise, with Krasinski continuing to expand his work as a filmmaker.
