PixVerse raises $439M, tops $2B valuation to expand AI video platform

AI video-generation startup PixVerse has raised $439 million in a Series C extension, pushing its valuation above $2 billion as the company accelerates development of its world models and expands its global enterprise business.

Founded in 2023 by former ByteDance executive Wang Changhu and former Lighthouse Capital executive Jaden Xie, PixVerse said the latest funding extension included backing from Alibaba, Lollapalooza Capital, Ivy Capital, Grand Mount Capital, Eastern Bell Capital, Mirae Asset, BlueFocus, CloudAlpha, alongside returning investors iGlobe Partners and Lion X Ventures.

Funding to accelerate world models, global expansion

PixVerse said the fresh capital will support development of its world-model technology, strengthen enterprise offerings and expand operations across international markets.

The company already offers multiple AI products, including:

  • V-Series video-generation models for consumers and developers through APIs.
  • C-Series models designed for professional filmmaking and commercial production.
  • R-Series world models aimed at game development and virtual world creation.

The startup plans to launch an upgraded V-Series video model and a new version of its world model later this year while expanding its research and go-to-market teams.

Company claims strong user growth

PixVerse said its consumer platform has surpassed 150 million registered users and 15 million monthly active users.

Its platform allows users to generate AI videos in resolutions of up to 4K with built-in audio. The company currently charges about $4.80 per minute for image-to-video generation but declined to disclose how many users subscribe to its paid plans.

PixVerse sees enterprise, consumer demand growing

Co-founder Jaden Xie said the company sees significant opportunities across both consumer and enterprise markets, with businesses increasingly adopting AI-generated videos for marketing, training and creative projects.

Xie argued that PixVerse's competitive advantage lies in its AI data-labelling capabilities rather than access to training data, drawing on expertise developed while building recommendation technologies at ByteDance.

PixVerse has already partnered with Alibaba to deploy its AI video-generation technology and plans to continue expanding enterprise adoption worldwide.

Competition intensifies in AI video generation

PixVerse operates in an increasingly competitive AI video market alongside rivals including ByteDance's Seedance, Kling AI, Video Rebirth, Midjourney, Runway and Luma.

Several other AI companies are also investing heavily in world-model technology, making the sector one of the fastest-growing areas of generative AI development.
