A 21-year-old pregnant woman was found fatally stabbed in Colombia after disappearing for four days, as authorities continue investigating the whereabouts of her unborn baby and those responsible for the crime.

María Potosí, who was eight months pregnant, was found dead near the Meléndez River in La Buitrera, Cali, on July 20 with multiple stab wounds. Authorities said her unborn baby had been removed from her womb.

Police launched an investigation after Potosí was reported missing on July 16. Surveillance footage captured her riding on a motorcycle with an unidentified woman shortly before she disappeared.

According to local reports, the woman had gone to Potosí's partner's family home claiming to be her friend before the two left together.

Several days later, the suspect's family reportedly recognized her in the surveillance footage and turned her over to authorities.

Police confirmed the woman has since been formally charged as the investigation continues.

Authorities believe at least four other individuals may have been involved in the crime, although no additional arrests have been announced.

Investigators are also working to determine what happened to Potosí's unborn baby, whose condition and whereabouts remain unknown.

Cali Mayor Alejandro Eder has announced a reward of 200 million Colombian pesos (approximately $63,000) for information leading to the identification and capture of everyone involved in the case.

The prosecutor's office is investigating the incident on multiple counts, including aggravated homicide, forced disappearance, aggravated torture and destruction of evidence.

The killing has sparked widespread outrage in Colombia as authorities continue searching for answers and pursuing those believed to be connected to the crime.
