Craig Melvin takes family vacation following alarming 'Today' show incident
The 'Today' co-anchor took a break from work to spend time with family, just days after an intruder was arrested
Craig Melvin is making the most of his summer break, spending quality time with his family during a beach vacation in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, following a recent security incident at the Today show.
The 47-year-old NBC co-anchor's wife, Lindsay Czarniak, shared a series of family photos on Instagram from their getaway with their children, Delano, 12, and Sybil, 9.
The snapshots captured the family enjoying the beach, boating with relatives and gathering for a large family meal that included Melvin's parents, Lawrence and Betty Melvin.
Earlier in the week, Melvin also posted a beach photo of his own, writing that he was "out of office" and enjoying time with family while encouraging fans to make the most of the summer.
His vacation comes less than two weeks after an intruder breached security at NBC's Studio 1A in New York.
The man allegedly confronted Melvin while shouting racial slurs and asking for fellow Today host Al Roker before being taken into custody.
Addressing the incident on air the following day, Melvin confirmed the suspect had been arrested and expressed relief that everyone remained safe.
Police later charged the 41-year-old suspect with multiple offences, including hate crime-related burglary, menacing and criminal trespass.
Melvin is not the only Today star away from the programme. Co-anchor Savannah Guthrie is also taking time off while filming her upcoming Wordle game show, with guest hosts filling in during their absence.
