Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shares her connection with her 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' character name

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is all set to return to the silver screen with her upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan 2, has talked about her special connection with the film character name Nandini.

The actress previously played a character by the same name in her 1999 blockbuster film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. 

During a press conference, Aish stated: “What a coincidence. It’s amazing na? Even Nandini in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was very very memorable. She has lived on people’s heart and I’m so so thankful that I got to play Nandini then too.”

She further said: “She had remained special to the audience and, of course, to me. That was Sanjay Bhansali ji and today for my Mani Garu, I got to play Nandini in Ponniyin Selvan.”

“That’s just tremendously a blessing, to have gotten to play such strong women, such layered women and women with character that touch the lives of so many women out there. There’s reliability and I am very very very grateful.”

While taking about Ponniyin Selvan director Mani Ratnam, the 49-year-old actress said: “Whenever he will ask me to work in his films, I would say yes. Call it my respect to my guru or faith or gratefulness or love. You can label it whatever you want.”

Apart from Aishwarya, the film also features Jayan Ravi, Trisha, Karthi, Prakash Raj, Chiyaan Vikram, and many others. Ponniyin Selvan 2 will be released in cinemas on April 28, 2023, India Today reported.
