Stephen Colbert brings down the curtain on The Late Show with a star-studded finale

An spectacular lineup of celebrity friends hijacked Stephen Colbert’s final monologue to bid him farewell

After 11 incredible years behind the desk, Stephen Colbert officially signed off from The Late Show in an episode packed with emotional tributes and absurd surprises. Colbert initially planned to host a normal, routine episode at the Ed Sullivan Theater. However, his final monologue quickly transformed into a star-studded free-for-all as Hollywood favorites like Bryan Cranston, Paul Rudd, and Ryan Reynolds playfully crashed the stage to argue over who deserved to be his ultimate final guest.

The coveted final interview slot ultimately went to music legend Sir Paul McCartney, who even gifted Colbert a framed photo of The Beatles' historic 1964 performance on that exact same stage. The finale took a characteristically surreal turn when an "interdimensional wormhole" threatened the broadcast, prompting a rescue appearance by Jon Stewart and fellow late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, and John Oliver.
