Channing Tatum teases surprise cameo in 'Magic Mike Live' New York
The 'Step Up' star plans a secret stage appearance, promising fans an unforgettable pop-up moment
Channing Tatum has geared up for a surprise cameo when Magic Mike Live arrives in New York City this October.
The 45-year-old actor, who played the iconic role in the Magic Mike films, teased the pop-up performance to People, saying, “I won't advertise it… It'll just happen. I'm definitely not gonna be like, 'I'm going on tonight, guys! Everybody show up!' I'll just pop up and show out.”
Tatum, who created and directs the stage show, revealed that performing in New York has been a long-awaited goal.
“We have a water routine that we're very, very proud of, and I knew when we created it, there’s no version of me not doing this at some point,” he explained.
The show, opening at a custom-built venue near Times Square, will feature special pop-up moments.
“I wanna create a show where if anybody that is a friend or just wants to be part of the show can come out and do something and be a part of it,” Tatum said.
The actor also praised the performers in Magic Mike Live, highlighting the importance of character alongside skill.
“Every single one of our guys is such a good human first… We interview them, and one of the first questions we ask is, 'What is your relationship with your mother?' It’s oddly very important,” he explained.
Tatum continued, “It's not that easy to give a lap dance. You either kind of have it or you don’t. And we have found all the men who are good at it.”
With Tatum hinting at his secret appearance, fans in the Big Apple are in for a sizzling, unpredictable show.
