Emergent CEO says vibe-coding industry is at 'Bitcoin $1' phase

The surge in vibe coding may seem substantial, but Emergent’s CEO Mukund Jha believes it's merely at the beginning.

The founder of the AI coding startup shared with Business Insider that the vibe-coding sector is "only 1% of where it will eventually grow."

"I constantly remind my team that we are in a position similar to Bitcoin at $1," Jha commented.

"There's visible enthusiasm, and revenue growth is evident. This is when things begin to click," he continued.

Jha highlighted that the industry might soon experience a significant turning point, where vibe-coded software becomes more dependable and widely adopted.

Jha drew a parallel to a time when literacy was rare globally.

With vibe coding, the potential market is vast, enabling more individuals to create their own tools. He remarked, "We are extremely undervalued."

He pointed out that the market for non-technical developers overshadows the current developer market, predicting the latter will contract.

"With rising efficiency, fewer developers will be needed," Jha reflected. Soon, marketing, product, and sales experts, who understand business challenges intimately, might develop their software—a market that's significantly large.

"With just 20 million developers globally, there are approximately 500 million knowledge workers capable of generating software, and we foresee that number expanding," he added.

In February, Emergent announced that it had reached $100 million in annual recurring revenue, or ARR, only eight months post-launch.

ARR is the annual income a company anticipates from subscriptions or ongoing payments.

The firm also mentioned that its ARR climbed from $50 million to $100 million in just a month, showcasing the swift progress in the AI coding sector.
