Michelle Pfeiffer calls heartbreak a ‘priority reset’ in candid interview

Michelle Pfeiffer has opened up about how heartbreak has shaped her perspective on life and connection.

The 67-year-old actress, who has endured the loss of people close to her more than once, told Entertainment Weekly that such experiences are a chance to re-evaluate what truly matters.

“For a brief amount of time, all that really matters is connection with other human beings,” Pfeiffer said. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh my God, how can I hold on to this?’ It felt so good and so real and authentic and safe … And in a weird way, it was relaxing, because I wasn’t busy just trying to make things happen. You just stop all that.”

Reflecting on past relationships, including her marriage to actor Peter Horton from 1981 to 1988, Pfeiffer admitted the challenge of finding clarity after being deeply entwined with someone.

“When you have grown up with someone and you’re so entangled with each other, after a while, you don’t really even know where you end and the other person begins. How do you even start to imagine your life without them and rebuild when everything you knew has fallen apart?” she said.

In other news, Pfeiffer recently agreed to join the cast of The Madison without reading a script, trusting creator Taylor Sheridan’s track record on hit shows like Yellowstone and Tulsa King.

“Taylor reached out to me and said he had an idea and would like to meet me,” Pfeiffer told Variety. “So I went to his ranch, met the team, and we talked broadly about the character and the concept. I said, ‘Okay, when could I read something?’ He said, ‘I’d like to know who I’m writing for before I start writing. So after you commit.’”
