John Stamos reveals his first real tattoo at 62 as a 'symbol of freedom'

John Stamos has marked a significant transition in his professional life by debuting his first tattoo at the age of 62. The Full House star revealed the intricate design via a video montage, showcasing a Native American rider on horseback gazing towards the sky.

Stamos explained that the imagery, titled 'Appeal to the Great Spirit', holds deep personal and professional resonance for him as he seeks more substantial and daring roles in the industry.

The actor-musician noted that the symbol was originally utilised by The Beach Boys over Brother Records. “The Beach Boys placed this image: ‘Appeal to the Great Spirit’ over Brother Records as a symbol of artistic freedom and trust in a higher creative path,” he shared.

For Stamos, the tattoo serves as a physical manifestation of his current mindset as he enters a new phase of his career.

The decision to get inked follows the actor's expressed desire to move away from his established sitcom persona in favour of more grounded and challenging projects.

Stamos, who is set to star in the Danny DeVito-produced horror film Drag, has previously likened his career aspirations to finding a transformative role similar to Breaking Bad.

He described the piece as a reminder to stay brave and open while trusting the direction the art is taking him.

The reveal was met with significant praise from his peers, including Kelly Rizzo, the widow of his late co-star Bob Saget, who expressed her pride in his decision.

While the actor previously made headlines in 2019 for a satirical tattoo of Nick Jonas, he confirmed this latest addition is a permanent commitment to his new artistic chapter and a reminder to keep taking bigger swings in his work.
