Calvin Klein sees $16 million boost following FX Love Story premiere

The release of Ryan Murphy’s latest FX series, "Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette", has sparked a massive resurgence for the Calvin Klein brand.

Since the show’s premiere on 12 February 2026, the fashion house has earned a staggering $16.1 million in media impact value.

The nine-episode series explores the couple’s relationship, prominently featuring Bessette’s career in the Calvin Klein PR department during the 1990s.

Despite the show’s success, industry insiders have noted that the brand—now led by designer Veronica Leoni—initially hesitated to officially capitalise on the "CBK" fever sweeping social media.

While fans have been lining up at New York pharmacies and scouring the internet for Bessette’s signature aesthetic, the show’s stars, Sarah Pidgeon and Paul Anthony Kelly, were notably absent from the front row of the Calvin Klein runway show on 13 February.

Marketing experts, including Small Girls PR CEO Mallory Blair, have described this as a "missed opportunity" to convert cultural relevance into direct sales.

It was not until the Vanity Fair Oscar Party that Pidgeon finally appeared in a custom Calvin Klein gown, accessorised with a unique purse shaped like a vintage bottle of CK One perfume.

The series portrays the legendary designer himself, played by Alessandro Nivola, as the man who introduced the iconic couple.

Bessette’s real-life history with the brand is well-documented; she rose from a saleswoman in Massachusetts to the director of publicity before her 1996 wedding.

Although the brand has seen a natural spike in interest for its minimalist neutrals and "grungy" 90s aesthetic, analysts suggest that limited-edition capsules or "shop the episode" experiences could have further driven revenue during this peak period of fascination.
