‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Owen and Teddy lead as Kevin McKidd, Kim Raver's exit nears

In this evening’s installment of Grey’s Anatomy, Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy (Kim Raver) began forming their plan for departure, a divisive duo finally became official after two seasons, and an unexpected new pair emerged, surprising us with some chemistry we didn’t anticipate.

Throughout the season, since Teddy’s “I’m choosing me” breakup phrase to Owen in last May’s finale, the two of them had only crossed paths briefly — occasionally exchanging glances and dealing with rebound lovers, Nora (Owen) and Cass (Teddy).

Discussions of their impending divorce, signing the papers, Teddy walking in on Owen and Nora in his trailer, Owen motivating Teddy before a challenging procedure, and the two hooking up in Episode 2212, were some of the highlights, which they had repeated a few times afterwards.

Tonight’s Episode 2215 marked a shift, the first since it was disclosed that Raver and McKidd will depart from Grey’s Anatomy in the Season 22 finale on May 7.

As their farewell is being mapped out, Teddy and Owen shared significant screen time, working on a medical case together for the first time this season.

A pivotal subplot featured Teddy joining Owen (with Simone and new intern Dani coming along) on a surgical field expedition to a rural hospital.

At this location, Owen and Teddy collaborated on an unplanned surgery, bringing back memories of their service together in Iraq.

As they reconnected — both emotionally and physically with their hands together in a patient’s open chest — Teddy was startled to learn Owen had been offered a job at the hospital to start a surgical unit.

This job offer seemed like a possible future for Owen after he leaves Grey Sloan in the finale.

However, to Teddy’s relief, Owen declined the offer (at least for now), leaving us wondering how their characters will exit the show.

“It wasn’t the right moment,” Owen explained, to which Teddy replied, “Thank goodness, I thought you were going to abandon me,” inadvertently revealing her true feelings.

She awkwardly tried to clarify that she was talking about him leaving Grey Sloan, but it was clear she was referring to something deeper, indicating the couple's potential reconciliation that has been building in recent episodes.

Meanwhile, Winston’s (Anthony Hill) profession of love for Jules (Adelaide Kane) and their initial kiss in the previous episode led to more affection.

Under Jules’ urging, Winston ended his relationship with Iris, the nurse he was seeing, on her birthday, nonetheless.
