Jonathan Scott plans ‘intimate’ wedding with Zooey Deschanel, prioritizes close circle
The couple is choosing intimacy over extravagance for their future wedding
Jonathan Scott opened up about his wedding plans with fiancée Zooey Deschanel and why the couple is prioritizing intimacy over extravagance.
In a recent interview, the 47-year-old television personality revealed that he and Deschanel are intentionally keeping their future wedding small, choosing to celebrate only with people who genuinely value their relationship.
Scott explained that his perspective on relationships has evolved, noting that he no longer wants to invest energy in one-sided connections.
As a result, the couple has agreed to surround themselves only with those who “actually love” and support them on their big day.
The pair, who got engaged in August 2023, are still in the early stages of planning and have yet to finalize a date or location.
For now, Scott says they are focused on enjoying life together rather than rushing into wedding preparations.
This preference for a low-key celebration is not new. Scott has previously emphasized that he and Deschanel are not interested in hosting a lavish event, instead valuing meaningful moments shared with close friends and family.
The couple is believed to be considering Los Angeles for the ceremony, where they live in a renovated historic home, though no official plans have been confirmed.
Deschanel has echoed a similar sentiment in past remarks, describing their approach as “exploratory” and stressing that finding the right setting is more important than sticking to a timeline.
The actress, who shares two children with former husband Jacob Pechenik, said she wants the occasion to feel special rather than rushed.
Beyond wedding plans, Scott is also busy with professional and personal projects. Alongside his twin brother Drew Scott, he stars in the new HGTV series Property Brothers: Under Pressure, which follows the duo as they help homeowners make smarter real estate decisions.
The show also touches on a deeply personal project for Scott — rebuilding Deschanel’s longtime family home, which was destroyed in the Los Angeles wildfires.
He shared that construction is already underway, with the foundation recently completed.
