Russell Brand's rape trial postponed by four months

Russell Brand‘s rape trial has been postponed from June to October.

In April 2025, the Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor faced charges including rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault connected to four women.

In December, new accusations of rape and sexual assault involving two additional women were brought against Brand by London’s Metropolitan Police.

Mr Justice Joel Bennathan has now combined these charges and scheduled the trial for October 12, allowing it to extend over two months instead of five weeks in the summer, according to reports from Southwark Crown Court on Monday.

There were also challenges in finding jurors available during the summer holiday period.

Brand has denied all accusations and is eager to address them. “I will now have the chance to contest these claims in court, which I am truly grateful for,” he expressed last year. Brand, 50, did not attend Monday’s court session.

Among the allegations Brand faces, one involves a claim of raping a woman in a Bournemouth hotel room in 1999, as well as accusations of grabbing a TV worker’s breasts and committing oral rape in 2004.

The actor and comedian, once wed to Katy Perry, has transformed into a vocal advocate for Christianity, speaking out about free speech and independent thought in the context of MAGA America.

By appearing in court in May, he avoided a potential extradition issue for UK authorities.
