UK Film and TV fund Allegro Finance secures $2.6m funding facility
London's Allegro Finance has successfully obtained a £2 million working capital fund
London's own film and TV lending platform Allegro Finance has successfully obtained a £2 million ($2.6M) working capital fund from Beechbrook Capital, managed with support from the British Business Bank.
The declaration of this financial backing immediately follows Allegro Finance's recent introduction of a $500 million credit line specially for film and television production, with counsel from Elliott Advisors UK Limited.
Allegro was established in 2024 by industry veterans in film and TV finance, structured credit, and investment banking, namely Jamie Lowe, Peter Touche, and Sam Collett.
“This working capital fund is a significant boost for Allegro’s expansion, and we appreciate the encouragement from Beechbrook and their management of funds on behalf of the British Business Bank,” expressed Collett.
“It allows us to grow the platform and introduce private institutional capital into the UK film and television sector in an unprecedented manner. This perfectly illustrates how public funds can facilitate private investment, support fast-growing businesses, and reinforce one of the UK’s most globally competitive fields.”
Allegro’s funding will be invested in a broad international array of film and television projects, in alignment with Allegro’s goal to be the top non-bank senior lender in the global screen industries.
Paul Shea, Managing Partner at Beechbrook Capital, which specializes in lending to small and medium-sized businesses, noted that the investment aligns well with the funds managed for the British Business Bank.
“All of our funds aim to foster growth and create jobs, and this investment fulfills that aim. The UK’s creative industries are a core economic component, employing vast numbers of people and adding substantial cultural and economic value,” stated Shea.
Adam Kelly, Managing Director and Co-Head of Funds at the British Business Bank, highlighted the importance of creative industries in the UK’s industrial strategy.
