Demi Lovato debuts cookbook 'One Plate at a Time' and shares personal kitchen favourites

Demi Lovato is sharing insights from her kitchen as she reveals the one dish she enjoys making for her husband, Jordan 'Jutes' Lutes.

This comes ahead of the release of her debut cookbook, *One Plate at a Time: Recipes for Finding Freedom with Food*, which will be available on March 31.

In an exclusive interview with People, the 33-year-old pop star shared that her go-to recipe for Jutes is a spin on the classic “Marry Me Chicken,” which she renamed “Honeymoon Chicken” in her cookbook.

“One of the first few dishes that I made for my now husband was ‘Marry Me Chicken.’ He loved it, so in my cookbook, we actually have ‘Honeymoon Chicken,’ which is a spin on ‘Marry Me Chicken,’” Lovato said. She added that the dish has been “particularly healing” for her.

Lovato also described the couple’s fun date-night routine in the kitchen. “He helps me in the kitchen, and we'll make a night of it where I'll make him do all the chopping and I'll do all the rest,” she explained, noting that Jutes always volunteers and cleans up afterward. “It's really special. It's a nice time to bond and you get something delicious out of it.”

Beyond the Honeymoon Chicken, Lovato shared that Jutes is a fan of several recipes from her cookbook, including her “Pantry Chili,” “Buddha Bowl,” “Shortcut Green Chilaquiles,” and especially her “Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies.”

One Plate at a Time chronicles Lovato’s journey with food, which began around age 30 after years of navigating a complicated relationship with eating.

The cookbook includes over 80 recipes designed to help people enjoy food without guilt. A press release describes it as “a cookbook for people who struggle to enjoy food without guilt and for anyone looking for a gentler, more grounded approach to cooking.”

Lovato, who uses she/they pronouns, also opened up last month about her growing love for Jutes, saying, “I genuinely thought on my wedding day, ‘I can't love this man anymore than I already do.’ And then a few weeks, months go by, and I'm like, ‘Oh, my God, I thought that I was maxed out on love and now I'm maxed out on love.’”
